Affordable Hairstyling Ideas For Busy Working Girls
Just got the job? Congratulations! In this economy that's saying something so good for you.
With so much to do to prepare before anything else you need to make sure your closet, hair and makeup is in order and ready for work life. Yes, that certainly is an emphasis on how you look because appearance does matter for working girls. When you're working in an office you need to look more than just decent and presentable - you need to look professional which includes your hair.
Still that doesn't mean you've got unlimited funds to invest on hair care. Who does anymore?
So what's a newly hired girl to do when there simply is not the money to lavish on her tresses at the salon as she'd like?
Are there ways to stretch your beauty dollars not to mention stretch the time in between or reduce how often you are visiting your stylist or colorist?
Of course there are. You just need to know how to be frugal and look good at the same time. Hopefully you'll find this Q&A useful in your quest to get office ready.
Question: My curling iron died at school. Are there any alternatives?
Answer: Instead of buying a curling iron pick up a set of Velcro rollers and try setting your hair with them. You can roll your hair at night even and unleash all those ringlets in the morning making this a time and money saver.
Question: Are ponytails okay for the office?
Answer: Absolutely. Especially when you consider you can wear a high pony, a side pony, or more of a low pony, well that's three different classy looks from the same basic style. Besides they are quick time savers which can come in handy if you're rushed in the morning. Yet ponytails give you a good-enough-for-the-office look that still exudes a bit of style.
Question: I'm a color addict. But I doubt I'll have the time to keep up with touch ups and such. What are my options when it comes to low maintenance color?
Answer: Some feel highlights grow out well. Others will tell you when money is tight to think about more of a mono-tone look. Advising that you leave the highlights and low lights to a more affluent period of your life.
Question: My hair seems to be dry because of washing it too often. Ideas?
Answer: You may be onto something with that. Plus you may have found a way to save on shampoo. Although it is going to cost you in other ways. Seriously, we both know too many of us shampoo excessively. Compulsively even. It's what we've always done. But no more. Instead why don't you see if you can get by with second day hair a couple days a week. Worst case pick up some dry shampoo to try to stretch the number of days between sudsing up. (Redbook tested how good your hair can look after days without washing.) Okay so you'll save on shampoo but pay for the dry stuff so let's call this a wash!

Question: A friend told me that I should use a shampoo bought from a salon rather than those found in stores. She said they are much better. Hinting that drugstore brands are too commercial and they don't produce the results with your hair as readily as salon products do. How true is this?
Answer: Yeah I know. I too hear lots of statements like that suggesting salon brands are better than the generic or store brand formulations you can pick up in drug stores. Fact is store brands are often just as good as salon formulas. So regardless of what hairstyles you have - shag haircuts, pixie styles, or cropped cuts - they still can be made manageable even if you use store-bought hair care products. Even better, unlike salon brands which are really very expensive, store brands are way cheaper and they may even perform better. For sure at least as well.
For many of us our hair is our thing. It is what defines our look. Some can spend huge amounts of money to keep their highlights or color fresh and vibrant. Others can't resist a new styling product. Others still have to have the latest hot styling tool. But sometimes you must tell you hair no! Yet as you can see you can be cheap without looking cheap. In fact you can look downright fabulous even on a budget!
